Pediatric Intensive Care Unit - C5-2
The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital is a multidisciplinary, 14-bed unit that provides care for critically ill patients with ages ranging from neonates to 23 years. The unit is supported by the full spectrum of medical and surgical services. The PICU specializes in the care of complex transplant patients, such as pediatric liver, kidney, small bowel, and multivisceral organ transplants. As one of MedStar Georgetown's Centers of Excellence, the MedStar Georgetown Transplant Institute draws pediatric patients from all around the world for our growing program, which recently introduced pediatric living donor transplants and domino transplants.
The PICU provides the highest level of care to critically ill medical and surgical patients, including those requiring high-frequency oscillatory ventilation, continuous veno-venous hemofiltration and inhaled nitric oxide. A team of three pediatric intensivists supervises the care of all patients in partnership with residents, interns and attending physicians from other specialties. If you are interested in becoming part of this cutting-edge, interdisciplinary team, please feel free to apply online or contact us.
