Conduct history and physical exam of new and returning patients. Evaluate laboratory values and necessary documents prior to patient procedures. Discuss patient assessment, diagnostic studies and treatment approach with the primary supervising physician. Prescribe medication and discuss treatment plan with the patient and other members of the healthcare team. Assist with and/or perform medical or surgical procedures under the supervision and guidance by primary surgeon. Assist in daily rounds on inpatients and assist physicians with inpatient consultation. Must have knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care. Must have skills with phlebotomy and performing medical and surgical procedures (including neurosurgical procedures) under physician supervision. Must have the ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Must have at least a Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies or a related field resulting from completion of an accredited PA training program. Must have PA licenses from the District of Columbia and Maryland. Must have CPR certification.
