As a Pediatric Hospitalist, provide medical care to pediatric patients admitted to our inpatient pediatric unit, delivery room, newborn nursery, and ER consult. Attend C-sections and deliveries to provide initial newborn evaluation, resuscitation and stabilization. Consult with the attending pediatrician regarding high-risk newborns. Respond immediately to all code blue patients and admit patients from the Emergency Care Center upon request from the attending physician. Perform procedures as requested, including drawing ABGs, venipunctures, starting IVs, and inserting urinary catheters. Evaluate patients as requested, communicate with the attending physician, and assist with interventions or management under the direction of the attending physician. Admit, manage and discharge pediatric and newborn patients. Participate in care management rounds under Hospitalist service. Job based at MedStar St. Mary's Hospital in Leonardtown, MD with travel required to work at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center in Clinton, MD. Position requires shifts of 12-24 hours in length.
Position requires MD degree or foreign equivalent plus three years of ACGME-recognized pediatric residency, valid Maryland medical license and American Board certification (or eligibility) in Pediatrics.
