Infusion Clinic
PRN / Per Diem, Days, 8am-4:30pm

The professional nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive care in an ambulatory setting for patients in the Infusion Center. The key tasks and responsibilities include assessment of physical and psychosocial needs, patient education and the administration of chemotherapy, immunotherapy and blood products. The nurse develops a plan of care, evaluates the patient's response to interventions, and implements appropriate changes. The nurse also assists in symptom management, coordinates internal and external resources, triages unexpected patient visits, and facilitates communication between all members of the healthcare team. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures, and standards.

Required Education/Training:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; RN.
  • BSN preferred.
  • Current D.C. licensure as a Registered Nurse.
  • Oncology certification preferred.

Required Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in oncology; ambulatory care experience preferred.

Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Chemotherapy certification strongly preferred.
  • Excellent phlebotomy skills.
