The Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) is a 16-bay Recovery Room that provides immediate postoperative care to surgical patients in accordance with ASPAN standards. PACU Nurses care for both adult and pediatric patients who have undergone a broad range of surgical procedures. Surgical specialties include ENT, Urological, Vascular, Plastics, and Thoracic with an emphasis on Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, General Surgery, and Transplant.

PACU Nurses work with patients across the continuum of care, from the least acute to the most acute. They assess the needs of the patient and provide appropriate interventions, utilizing critical thinking to practice with a great deal of autonomy. In addition, the PACU offers flexible, desirable schedules with minimal off-shifts since the majority of patients are undergoing planned surgical procedures.
