The incumbent is a registered professional nurse practitioner who is responsible for providing professional nursing services that supplement and complement the professional nursing staff and the medical staff's delivery of patient care services. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures, and standards.

Required Education/Training:
  • Graduate of a nurse practitioner program from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Master's degree in Nursing required.
  • Current RN/Advanced Practitioner licensure in the District of Columbia.
  • Current certification in Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Current ACLS certification.
  • Credentialed as a member of the GUH professional staff.

Required Experience:
  • Experience in acute care, perianesthesia care and/or intensive care.

Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Judgment and leadership skills.
  • Familiarity/experience with perioperative/perianesthesia process and physiological monitors desirable.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must be mature and be able to set priorities and work independently.
  • Must be able to articulate procedures to patients and families.
  • Excellent physical assessment skills.
