General Summary of Position:
The incumbent in this position is a supervisor who provides professional nursing care and participates in and facilitates the management of the operational, personnel and financial activities of the Division of Infectious Diseases and Travel Medicine. These functions are performed in accordance with MedStar Georgetown’s philosophy, policies, procedures, and standards.
Consideration will be given to an appropriate combination of education/training and experience.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING REQUIRED: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN degree required.
LICENSURE AND/OR CERTIFICATION: Current D.C. license as a Registered Professional Nurse.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of two years of clinical experience in nursing with ambulatory experience.
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. In-depth knowledge of nursing principles, practice and skills. Competence in clinical area for which application is made. Demonstrates leadership initiative.

Participates in planning, directing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluation the nursing care delivery system for outpatient clinical services, including IV home antibiotics, to ensure that the nursing care is performed according to established standards.
Provides direct patient care, continually monitoring and evaluating the quality of care and services that are provided on the unit.
Coordinates and collaborates with nursing staff, physicians, patients, families, and other departments those activities related to patient and unit services.
Participates in research and development activities of the unit.
Assumes all responsibilities for the unit in the absence of the Administrator I.
Participates in clinical personnel management functions for the designated area to include, but not limited to, interviewing, hiring, orienting, training, scheduling, coaching, counseling, evaluating, promoting, and terminating employees as delegated by or with the Department Head’s approval.
Plans and/or provides (as delegated) orientation, training, continuing education programs, or other opportunities for learning for the unit and other hospital staff as appropriate.
Participates in monitoring and controlling assigned operational and capital budgets within administrative/departmental guidelines.
Exemplifies Patient Experience service standards and Spirit values, and actively participates in Patient Safety standards and tasks.
Assumes other duties and responsibilities that are appropriate to the position and area.
