Function in an outpatient nursing role, providing oversight to aspects of nursing services, patient care coordination and monitoring of quality and safety issues. Provide professional nursing care for clinic patients and follow established standards and practices. Act as role model for all nursing staff members. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and with MedStar Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures, and standards.

Required Education/Training:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • BSN preferred.
  • Registered Nurse, licensed in the District of Columbia.
  • CPR certification.

Required Experience:
  • Three years of professional nursing experience.
  • At least one year of outpatient primary care.

Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Desire to work in a primary care environment that is intent on creating an ideal patient-centered primary care experience.
  • Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
  • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
  • Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of professional nursing to provide ongoing patient care.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
