Acts as the primary resource for Non-Physician Practitioner staff and their daily functions. Responsible for directing and evaluating the Non-Physician Practitioner (NPP) staff of the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center. Acts as the primary resource for NPP's daily functions. Functions to coordinate and formalize a multidisciplinary structure and process that ensure accountability for specific patient care outcomes through assessment, planning, coordination, and referral of services within specific time frames. Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team, utilizing clinical outcome data to support innovative and cost-effective changes to practice and to the healthcare system. The functions of expert practice, consultation, professional development, research, and leadership are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures, and standards. Functions as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the Division of Hematology/Oncology to provide comprehensive care to a designated patient population. Coordinates and communicates all aspects of care with patient/family and the healthcare team. Coordinates activities with the attending physician as assigned. Assists in communications with referring physicians and patients, triages patients and patient issues, and ensures monitoring and confirmation of service delivery and evaluation of healthcare services for patients and patient families. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures, and standards.
Master's degree or post-Master's education as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician's Assistant licensed in D.C. as a Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant.
Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in the District of Columbia.
AOCN credential preferred for those holding NP credential.
CPR required (BLS).
4 years of experience in oncology/hematology.
Experience in a university teaching hospital setting preferred.
Supervisory experience strongly preferred.
Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients/families, as well as staff and physicians.
Clinical knowledge base of oncology/hematology.
Demonstrates skills to be able to function independently.
