Endoscopy Unit
The Endoscopy Unit at MedStar Georgetown is a high-volume procedural department with 2 motility rooms, 5 pre-procedural bays and 6 state-of-the-art procedural rooms. The Endoscopy/Motility nurse will perform all motility and pH studies, including pre-procedure screening and patient education. Complete all procedural documentation and collect patient test results in a timely manner for physician interpretation. They will assist the physicians in performing advanced therapeutic procedures such as colonscopy, endoscopy, ERCP, EUS, single-balloon enteroscopy, and Barrx procedures/treatments. Endoscopy nurses will work closely with patients to perform medical intake in preparation for procedures and assist physicians during the procedures with specimen collection and charting.

Experience, Education and Certification:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Confident to work next to and communicate directly with the physicians throughout  the shift.
  • BSN preferred.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support.
  • Minimum 2 years of medical/surgical nursing experience required.
  • Endoscopy or procedural nursing experience preferred.


  • Monday through Friday, four to five days per week.
  • Nurses rotate between two shifts: 7am – 5:30pm and 8am – 4:30pm.
  • This procedural unit is closed on the holidays.
