The MedStar Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center (LCCC) Infusion Unit is a 39-chair department specializing in the administration of chemotherapy, biotherapy and blood products. LCCC was initially designated by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) in 1974 and achieved NCI comprehensive status in 1990. The mission of LCCC is to improve the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of cancer through innovative basic science, clinical research, patient care, community outreach, and the training of cancer specialists of the future.
The Lombardi Infusion Unit is composed of three units: a Clinical Trials Infusion Center (currently over 250 active clinical trials), a Standard of Care Infusion Center, and a Bone Marrow Transplant Infusion Center (FACT-accredited). The patient population includes all hematologic diseases and cancers (leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, ITP, sickle cell anemia), autologous and allogenic transplant patients, and a wide range of medical diagnoses.
