Clinical Nurse Coordinator, RN, BSN - Oncology
Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT)
Full Time, 8 AM - 4:30 PM

Responsible for the coordination of patient care across the continuum of oncologic care for patients of the Blood and Marrow Transplant Program. This person will be responsible for providing assistance in coordinating patient evaluation; educating, informing and supporting patients and their families regarding treatment options; and facilitating treatment plans. This individual will function as a patient advocate, guiding patients and families throughout the bone marrow transplant care experience. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures, and standards.

Required Education/Training:
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required; Master's of Science in Nursing preferred.
  • Licensure as an RN in the District of Columbia.
  • Oncology nurse certification preferred.

Required Experience:
  • Demonstrates a high level of understanding of oncology treatment modalities and supportive therapies.
  • 4-5 years of clinical nursing experience in oncology, minimum 3 years of bone marrow transplant experience required.
  • Experience with medical oncology and inpatient/outpatient/community oncology services preferred.
  • Must have clinical maturity and experience, excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team of healthcare providers.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills required.

Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Position requires a high level of advocacy and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to multitask and organize advocacy and support for a large and varied group of cancer patients and their families.
