Clinical Nurse Coordinator – Oncology, Lombardi Clinic

Provides direct and indirect care to patients as a registered nurse, including application of clinical nursing skills, such as recording patients' medical histories and symptoms, administering patients' medicines and treatments, operating and monitoring medical equipment, and evaluating quality and appropriateness of care delivery. Collaborates with physicians and staff involved in the patient's care to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans. Triages patient telephone inquiries and provides consultations as needed. Teaches patients and their families how to manage illnesses or injuries and what to do at home after treatment by providing symptom management strategies to patients in collaboration with physician and instructing patients regarding educational topics of disease process, treatment plan and symptom management. Participates in activities for the promotion of health and prevention of illness by utilizing good research methodology in collaboration with research nursing staff to ensure collection of healthcare quality, outcome and cost data. Utilizes knowledge of clinical nursing duties to coordinate activities designed to improve performance in assigned program and to assist with new employee orientation, competency assessment, and continuing education for the nursing staff as needed.

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Nursing plus 5 years of experience as a nurse. Requires a valid Registered Nurse license from the District of Columbia. No calls, please.
