MedStar Georgetown University Hospital
MedStar Georgetown University Hospital is one of the largest healthcare delivery networks in the Washington, DC, area. With a 609-licensed-bed hospital and The Georgetown Physician Group we have 4,500 associates, developing their careers while supporting the care of our patients. While we offer an extensive array of healthcare services, our centers of excellence include cancer care, neurosciences, gastroenterology, transplant, and vascular diseases.
We strive for excellence in the care of our patients and the satisfaction of our associates, and believe that the diverse perspectives and backgrounds of our associates lead to better patient care. We prioritize making our teams inclusive so they can be strong resources for our patients, and for our associates.
Among our well-respected service lines, are a few programs we are particularly proud of. At MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, we take pride in our infection prevention Program of Distinction designated by APIC that protects patients while they are in our hospital and decreases the chances of returning due to preventable causes. We are home to the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, the only facility in Washington, D.C. designated as a National Cancer Center by the NCI, and the first hospital to offer Proton Therapy in the area. MedStar Georgetown Transplant Institute has one of the highest volume transplant programs in the United States. We hold a FACT Accreditation for Bone Marrow and Stem Cell Transplantation. Also, we are among an elite set of hospitals to be granted Magnet® Recognition by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, a designation that highlights the incredible work of our nursing staff.
Founded in the Jesuit principle of cura personalis, caring for the whole person, MedStar Georgetown is committed to offering a variety of innovative diagnostic and treatment options within a trusting and compassionate environment. Our Common Purpose, a simple yet powerful tool, guides our decision making for consistent delivery of high quality and safe patient care.
