General Summary of Position:
Responsible for preparing, delivering and staging surgical procedure-based case carts according to clinical preference cards and departmental standards. Coordinates case cart supply needs with Sterile Processing Department to ensure case cart completion, accuracy and timely delivery to the surgical suite.

  • High school degree or GED diploma is required. 
  • May require up to one year of technical or other specialized training. 
  • Requires the ability to read and write and knowledge of grammar and arithmetic, including fractions and decimals. 
  • May require the use of standard office/medical equipment (i.e., typewriter, personal computer, data terminal, online printer, calculator, telephone, facsimile, copier, sterilizing equipment, blood pressure cuff, or tables); the preparation, comparison or checking of reports, records and related data; and basic use of formulas, charts, tables, drawings, and knowledge of their application.
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST), Certified Sterile Processing & Distribution Technician (CSPDT) or Certified Registered Central Services Technician (CRCST) required by the International Association of Central Service Materials Management or Certification Board for Sterile Processing & Distribution.
  • Three to four years of surgical case cart preparation and/or sterile processing experience in a surgical setting.
  • Knowledge of surgical instrumentation and uses, surgical procedure terminology, surgical supplies, and their usage.
  • Working knowledge of various surgical instrument inventory tracking software.
