The MedStar Georgetown Transplant Institute (MGTI) is seeking a Clinical Lead for the Advanced Practitioners in our rapidly expanding, multi-organ transplant program.

MGTI is a proud member of MedStar Health, the premier health system in the mid-Atlantic region and one of the nation's leaders in solid organ transplants. MGTI associates primarily practice at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and MedStar Washington Hospital Center.

MGTI is one of MedStar's Centers of Excellence and offers evaluation and treatment of advanced liver disease, intestinal disorders, chronic kidney disease, and complications of diabetes. Our goal is to restore patients to their optimum level of health and return them to a productive life. We specialize in innovative treatments and provide our patients with access to groundbreaking research and clinical trials.

The MedStar Georgetown Transplant Institute (MGTI) is seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Clinician (APC) to lead our expanding acute care inpatient service. This leader will:
  • Provide management oversight to a group of Nurse Practitioners (NP) and Physician Assistant (PA) staff (APCs) that provide 24/7 clinical management of preoperative and postoperative inpatients.
  • Act as the primary resource for NPs'/PAs' daily functions.
  • Function to coordinate and formalize a multidisciplinary structure and process that ensures accountability for specific patient care outcomes through assessment, planning, coordination, and referral of services within specific time frames.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, utilizing clinical outcome data to support innovative and cost-effective changes to practice and to the healthcare system.
  • Function as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the Department of Transplant Surgery to provide comprehensive care to a designated patient population.
  • Coordinate and communicate all aspects of care with patient/family and the healthcare team.
  • Coordinate activities with the attending physician as assigned.
  • Assist in communications with referring physicians and patients; triage patients and patient issues; and ensure monitoring and confirmation of service delivery and evaluation of healthcare services for patients and patient families.

Required Education/Training:
  • Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program or Physician Assistant program.
  • State license in D.C. as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner.
  • BLS, ACLS and PALS certification.

Required Experience:
  • Four years of healthcare experience, inclusive of at least one year of directly related experience in transplant.
  • One year of supervisory experience required.
